One day after the Vice Mayor Enno Bozdo decided that merchants from the
former “Dinamo” plant should remove their products, due to the danger of
cyanide, merchants are still continuing their work normally.
Consumers and traders have not abandoned the site. According to them, everything is made for personal interests, since they want to move the market somewhere else, and that it is not the first time that the municipality tries this.
Merchants say that they don’t have any official document about this. They learned from the media that they had to leave. They say that the cyanide quantity is two kilometers away, at the Dinamo former plant.
“That cyanide was moved through the 5 Maji road, which is incredibly busy, and they sent it to Elbasan. It didn’t touch any part of this market. They say that the cyanide that passed there polluted the environment around here, but it is not true”, declared Alfred Bozhiqi, from the Association for protection of agricultural trade.”
The Ministry of Agriculture ordered the National Food Agency to make the measurements, which resulted with a high presence of bacteria, due to the bad conditions of some refrigerator rooms. NFA sent a letter to the Tirana Municipality and asked the closure of this market. The Ministry of Agriculture says that they are waiting for the results from the Ministry of Environment.
