The Municipality of Tirana has given the City’s Key to Nexhmije Pagarusha, one of the most beloved singers from Kosovo, who celebrated her 85th anniversary.
Pagarusha was received at the Tirana Municipality in a special ceremony, where Mayor Veliaj gave her the City’s Key in sing of gratitude for what she has given to Albanian art.
“We give Pagarusha Tirana’s Key because we think that this house is also her house.”, Mayor Veliaj said, adding that Pagarusha’s songs are the best heritage for the youngest generation, who maybe don’t even remember communism, former Yugoslavia or the war, and the challenges that came with them.
Pagarusha was very happy with the reception. She thanked Mayor Veliaj and said: “I want to thank you so much that you don’t forget me. I am happy for this key which maybe I don’t deserve. Whoever wants to come to Tirana should come to me first. If only we could have this key before. I pray to God I live long enouh to enjoy it”, Pagarusha said.
