The construction of the new University Campus will start in 2020, near the current campus built in the communist era, called “The Students’ Town”, which saw three buildings damaged by the earthquake and razed down by the authorities after deeming not safe.
According to the vice Mayor of the Tirana Municipality, Arbian MAzniku, the concept-idea for the reconstruction of the existing buildings, and the construction of new education and social-cultural building, is at its final phase. They are now planning the connecting roads and parks.
The Law and Economic Faculties would completely be moved to the new campus.
The buildings that were damaged by the earthquake will be rebuilt from scratch and will serve to accommodate students. The new campus will have a surface of 240.000 square meters.
