New strategy of the Ombudsman

The institution of the Ombudsman has presented its strategy until the
end of 2015, focused on promoting the human rights especially for the
Roma, children, violated women and those who are isolated from blood
feuds.

“The human right situation and the European Union integration agenda of our country requires the Ombudsman to be a pro-active inistitution in the protection of rights and promoting human rights and freedoms, especially those of the people in need. The priority of our work this year and in the years to come will be defending and promoting the groups in need, the Roma, the disabled people, the children, violated women, senior citizens, blood feud victims and prisoners. We will also work with two dangerous phenomena that are very dangerous and that damage the human rights, the illegal traffic and corruption”, declared Ombudsman Igli Totozani.

The Parliament Speaker, after valuing the efforts of the Ombudsman, declared the readiness of cooperation with this parliamentary institution.

“The unalterable role of the Ombudsman in the democratic reforms was confirmed by the fact that the European Union included it in the recommendations for Albania’s European Union candidate status. Today, 14 years after the foundations of this institutions were established in Albania, I notice with pleasure that the Ombudsman has entered the safe road of consolidation with an essential and irreplaceable contribution in the democratic processes of our country”, Meta declared.

The strategy of the Ombudsman was presented in presence of the ambassadors of the United States of America, Denmark, OSCE and other officials who have contributed in this institution.
