Robert Bitri is the new Prefect of the Fier District, a representative
of the Socialist Movement for Integration. He was appointed in this post
after the resignation of the former Prefect, Bujar Hasa, part of the
same political force.
Hasa was committed in a strong legal battle with the representatives of the Socialist Party for discharging the Chairman of the City Council, but the effort failed.
In the ceremony for the presentation of the new prefect was present the Deputy Interior Minister, Ferdinand Poni, who valued the work of the former Prefect and declared that the new head of the Fier District will push forward the realization of the Berisha government objectives.
Although under the SMI, the Prefect has been a Democratic Party representative.
