New pension scheme, Rama: “This are the new benefits”

For the first time, the thousands of citizens who will retire this year
will receive more money than one year ago. Prime Minister Rama declared
that there are at least 5000 citizens who will receive social
retirement, and who would be left out if not involved in this scheme.
“Pension increases for every category. There are 5000 men and women who could remain without anything and who today receive social pension. 7000 high-rank officials have the luxury to retire at 55. This reform goes for the minors, whose retirement age is reduced from 60 to 55”, Rama declared.
The Prime Minister declared that the benefits are bigger and there will be no limits for those who pay more.
According to the Ministry of Social Welfare, more than 1600 state institutions have not paid insurance to thousands of public employees, creating a debt of 109 million USD. The government has undertaken to liquidate the debt, but will ask the Prosecution to reveal the truth of this economic crime.
“For those who want a pension bigger than this low ceiling that has been used for the past 20 years, the message is very clear. Those who abused with pensions will be brought to justice”, Rama underlined.
The Minister of Social Welfare, Erion Veliaj, explained that this new pension scheme foresees a growth for every category without increasing the social contribution ceiling. Veliaj declared that for the first time, due to he higher number of contributors and the payments made thanks to amnesty in rural areas, the state budget has 80 million USD more.
