Erjon Braçe, one of the most active Socialist MPs against the
government’s decision for constructing a new luxury Parliament building,
declared that the expensive cost exceeds any financial logic for the administration of the public money.
“This bill is almost 70% of the VAT that all businesses in Albania pay to the government. This price is one third of the excise that is paid by the Albanian citizens. It is 50% of the tax on personal revenues, 80% of the total national taxes that the Albanians will pay for the entire year to the government of Albania. It is twice bigger than the customs tax for this year and same as all local taxes that are paid by any Municipality or commune of the country”, Brace declared.
The 110 million EUR bill is too big for Albania’s small budget, and this money could have been spent in many other places.
“The 110 million EUR cost is one fourth of the wages fund, 15 times bigger than the fund for new wage policies, 10 times bigger than the fund for pensions policies, 15 times bigger than the social assistance that the state pays to unemployed people, and 50% of the total expenses that are made by the local administration, of all municipalities and communes all over the country”, Braçe declared.
Braçe said that the entire procedure that will be followed by the government is anti-constitutional.
