New neighborhoods without tap water

The Aqueduct director in Tirana, Sahit Dollapi, asked the Minister of
Public Works to present their public plans to the Aqueduct for
coordinating their work, since there have been constructions in Tirana
where there is no aqueduct infrastructure and the citizens are still
suffering the lack of tap water.

Dollapi also asked the Road Directory to include in their plans the Aqueduct network for the under development areas, so that new roads will not be open right after they have been paved.

“All our work must be coordinated, and this hasn’t been respected so far. Several apartment building blocks have been built far from any criteria, obliging us to undertake inappropriate measures. All projects should be coordinated with the Aqueduct first”, Dollapi declared.

The Minister of Public Works, Sokol Olldashi, asked the Aqueduct to improve their relations with the Water Regulation Entity, because this is the institution that sets the water price. Olldashi also promised to resolve the problems raised by Dollapi.

“I need to consult with the General Directory of Roads, because the Aqueduct network is not a simple problem. It is different from the optic fibers and other underground cables. If we will build a new road, we will place a new tube under it, but what kind of tube? This remains to be solved”, Olldashi declared.

Minister Olldashi also informed that the canalization problem in Tirana will be resolved by 2012, after the Japanese government will invest 100 million USD, while another 60 million USD is being invested in the Durres Aqueduct.
