New list of reimbursable medicaments approved for 2018, breast cancer treatment included for 1st time

It was approved by the Albanian government a few days ago, when Prime Minister Rama said that it was extended with 36 medicaments.

But only 16 of them are active, 20 others are just alternatives. However, they remain new medicaments added for reimbursement.

Sources said for Top Channel that different from other years, this year the government did not communicate with the Tirana University Hospital about the medicaments that need to be covered.

For the last two years the government has used the medicament list of 2016, which has caused a futie financial cost for the government after Euro lost its value.

The financial cost for the new list has not published yet.

The important fact is that herceptine is included in the list for the first time. Now, women with breast cancer who will receive herceptine treatment will be able to take it even in other hospitals of Albania without having to travel to Tirana.
