The new draft law of army grades has arrived in Parliament for approval.
The Minister of Defense, Mimi Kodheli, listed the novelties that will
start with the discipline of military who are on reserve or retired.
“The reserve army has 17,500 members, which makes the budget’s burden very heavy. With the new draft-law we have planned to save 540 million ALL from the budget”, Kodheli declared.
“It might have an effect on the budget, but not on the defense. It will be damaged”, declared the former Minister of Defense, Fatmir Mediu.
“The law aims a better career for the military by better answering to the professional standards of the NATO members”, Kodheli declared.
“We need to think carefully about the Armed Forces, because this model will make them 10 years older”, Mediu replied.
The former Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, found this a good occasion to repeat his accusations against Minister Kodheli, about the criminal suit against General Syrja Gjoka.
According to Berisha, Kodheli has used her sister, a worker of the United States of America mission OPDAT, to exert pressure on the Prosecution. The United States embassy reacted by opposing this declaration, but the former Prime Minister promised to prove this claim.
“Your sister has burned the case of Syrija Gjoka as a witch. She has done this and I will prove it to the United States government”, Berisha declared.
The United States Embassy declared that they guarantee the integrity of every employee, and added that they were scandalized by the former Prime Minister’s declarations, and asked him to reflect about his behavior.
