The Albanian Prime Minister,  Edi Rama, informed the Parliamentary group
of the Socialist Party about the dialogue progress with President Bujar
Nishani regarding the vacancies at the Bank of Albania.

Top Channel has learned that Rama explained to MPs that all meetings with the president were held for discussing the criteria in selecting the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania.

Rama declared that the proposed name after the process is that of a woman who has been contributing for years in the financial system of a foreign country.

The Socialist leader didn’t mention her name, but it might be about Denada Prifti, who has worked at the German Ministry of Finances and now works for the European Commission in Brussels.

As for the new governor, sources quote Rama of having said that they need to continue the talks with the President regarding this matter.

The appointing of the new governor has created a new debate between the President of the majority, although Rama has not said anything in public about this.

The President declared that there is no point of the law saying that the Prime Minister can decide about the new Governor. Erjon Brace, the Chairman of the Commission of Economy answered to the President through a Facebook post, saying that there is no article in the law for the Bank of Albania saying that the President can propose a member of the Supervisory Council.
