New German Ambassador to Tirana

The new Ambassador of the German Federal Republic, Mr.Helmut Hoffman,
started his duty in Albania by replacing Mrs.Karola Muller Holtekemper,
who kept this duty since August 2010.

He sent the credentials to the Albanian President, Bujar Nishani. During his visit, the 62-year-old Hoffman considered the relations between Albania and Germany as excellent.

Hoffman was born in Heidenheim, Germany, in 1951. Since 1982, when he started working at the Foreign Ministry, Hoffman has held important duties such as a functionary of the NATO directory, and as head of the Conventional Weapon Control.

He has also worked at the German embassy in Zagreb as permanent representative and at the German Embassy in London as political adviser.

He worked in the past four years as leader of the Permanent Representation of Germany at the Geneva Convention for Disarmament.
