Regulatory Commission in the CEC expanded today the list of documents that an Albanian immigrant must provide to prove that he lives and works abroad, thus facilitating their participation in the spring elections.
Consultations with representatives of the diaspora caused the draft to undergo changes by including in the declaration documents such as the lease contract for the apartment, electricity bill, water or internet.
Helga Vukaj, member of the Regulatory Commission said: “The list is not exhaustive. In consultation with representatives of the diaspora, it is proposed to accept bank certificates containing the residential address.”
Ilirjana Nano, member of the Regulatory Commission: “Even the driving license when it contains the residential address, or any other document that proves the address and was issued in a foreign country, even private”.
Muharrem Cakaj, member of the Regulatory Commission: “There is no need for notarization or translation of the act, documents are accepted in the language in which they were issued.”
The Regulatory Commission also established ‘filters’ for Albanian citizens who are in immigrant camps, providing that no more than 6 people are registered from the same address, in order to avoid any attempt to abuse the vote of the diaspora.
