The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, made a summary of the energy
situation in our country, saying that the Socialist Government has made
radical changes in the past two years.

“The former government had left the Albanian Power Corporation with 540 million USD in debts. The inter-connection power line with Kosovo was interrupted for dark reasons. 1.3 billion USD had not been collected, while the losses in the network reached 51%. This was the situation that we inherited”, Rama declared.

According to him, the new situation is as follows: “We have reduced losses this month by bringing them at 31%. With stability in this sector, we trust that it will go at 30%. The level of encasing has increased with 100 million USD. In 15 months we have passed 300.000 act-agreements with the creditors that this government left in the road. The value of this act-agreement is 505 billion ALL, or 505 million USD. We have paid 70% of the debt to small producers”, Rama declared.

The head of the Albanian government declared that KESH has bought energy 50.59 EUR cheaper and has sold it with a higher price.

The investments realized in 2014 have allowed the usage of 12 hydropower plants, and five others are expected to enter in function during 2015.

“The changes and the international support for intervention in this sector are a reasult of our reform”, Rama declared.

The Prime Minister spoke about the exodus of the Albanian citizens to Germany.

Rama said that it satrted after a misunderstanding when the German side made a notification for a seasonal employment, but it has been abused by criminal elements.

Another factor, according to Rama, is the bad governing of the past eight years which left a bunch of problems.

“We don’t have a magic want to transform the situation in a blink. Don’t give us our responsibilities”, Rama declared, addressing to the opposition.
