The Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, returned to the employment
issue. Speaking in a meeting at the Belsh Municipality, in Dumre,
Berisha listed agriculture, tourism and energy as the sectors that would
create the biggest number of new jobs.
Berisha accused Rama of stopping millions of Euros in investments in Albania by blocking the candidate status.
“Albania remained among the fewest countries in Europe without an increased unemployment. On the contrary, unemployment rate fell because 4.2 billion USD were invested in Albania for the past four years. Our goal is to create jobs and increase wages and pensions. We have a clear and safe program for creating 250 jobs. The employment program is based on the biggest investment increase in Albania. We received 4 billion USD, and with the construction of the Devoll Cascade Albania will have 6 billion of foreign investments, and we will save 9.2 billion dollars more than in the eight years of the Socialist government. We established the flat tax, which enabled teachers to be paid with 38.000 ALL, when their salary in 2005 was 14.000 ALL.
