New draft law for insurance

Traffic experts have opposed a draft law that the government will pass
in Parliament soon regarding the compensation of insurance companies.

They said that their opinion as groups of interest was not taken in consideration, and that the law damages the citizens’ interest.

“The groups of interest should have been asked about these law amends. Today there is a huge number of citizens who have not been compensated by insurance companies, and their interests are deeply damaged. Our participation in the planning of this draft was very necessary, because it affects the citizens and favors only one side, which is not normal”, declared Gezim Hoxha, a traffic expert.

Gezim Hoxha says that there are some laws in this draft which plan to openly damage the interests of insured clients.

“Someone who wants to give the vehicle to a third person must notify the insurance company beforehand. This is impossible. There are spaces in which the vehicle has technical problems or when the driver goes very fast and become a cause of accidents. Certainly, there is no perfect technical situation for a vehicle, even those that come right of factories. Here you may find justifications for making things so that citizens do not get compensated”, Gezim Hoxha added.

Another controversial point of this law is the Assembly of the Insurance Bureau, which will be composed of insurance company leaders and this makes the first open conflict with the law.

“It treats the issue of the Albanian Insurance Assembly Bureau, which is composed by members of these companies. It is absurd that the leaders of these companies are part of the assembly. It doesn’t happen in any country of the world”, Hoxha declared.

The draft law will soon be discussed at the Commission of Economy.
