The Finnish Presidency of the EU has officially proposed to separate Northern Macedonia from Albania regarding the EU accession negotiations, according to Radio Free Europe.
The meeting of EU Foreign Ministers held today in Luxembourg is discussing the EU accession negotiations matter with Northern Macedonia and Albania.
The Finnish presidency will propose a positive decision for Northern Macedonia, while Albania will be asked to fulfill several conditions before the process is opened.
This decision will leave France isolated, which stands firm against any decision about opening the negotiations. They have announced that they will not approve them even for Skopje.
The decision to open the negotiations requires unanimous approval from all member states. However, the final decision will be taken at the summit of October 17th, 18th.
At the meeting of June, the Ministers voted in favor of deciding for Western Balkan not later than October 2019.
The Dutch Foreign Minister said that Macedonia has yet one condition to fulfill, the Public Prosecution Law. As for Albania, they still that our country is still far away.
