A 4.2 million USD investment for the Fier aqueduct has proven to be
ineffective after the new pumps failed to bring the necessary power.
Five new wells in Kafaraj have received an investment from the World Bank, 2.5 million USD from the Albanian government, and 1.7 million USD were used for the bypass that send the water to the Fier aqueduct and five communes.
The Aqueduct director expresses his concern and says that the new pumps are not functional. They are still working with the Chinese pumps that were installed in 1964.
The investment will serve to a population of more than 100.000 residents in this area, but technical problems and the parameters of the new pumps are making the investment useless.
