The winner was finally chosen for the architectural project of the new Albanian parliamentary building in the heart Tirana, where today raises the “Pyramid” building.

After a four days work, the international jury selected the project of an Austrian architectural study as the winner.

According to Johanes Ibeling, head of the jury and one of Europe’s best known architectural figures and critics, this project received 76 points, which was the highest score from the jury, and was also chosen by the public, who voted the Vienesse project with 50 points.

Parliament Speaker Jozefina Topalli estimated the realization of this project in an 18 months period as a big challenge. The aim is to celebrate Albania’s 100 years of independence by giving to the capital the most modern monument.

The winning project of the new parliamentary complex is designed as an assembled building, which reflects basic democratic values by being open, transparent and cooperative to the public.

What architects mostly appraised about this project was the bottom position of the Parliamentary Floor, which puts the people above the parliamentary deputies without taking the Parliamentary Floor off the metaphoric and physical centre of the building.
