The Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) has opened criminal proceedings today on the basis of several articles published in the media, regarding the investigations on telephone wiretaps carried out by the Anti-Mafia Prosecution Office in Catanzaro in Italy, where suspicions are cast on the involvement of Albanian citizens and foreigners, in criminal activities in the Republic of Albania.
In order to clarify the circumstances and facts related to the object of investigation of this proceeding, a coordination meeting was held today chaired by Federico Cafiero de Raho, of the Italian Prosecution Antimafia and Arben Kraja, Head of the Special Prosecution SPAK in Albania.
The meeting was attended by Italian and Albanian prosecutors investigating the cases in their respective countries.
The Albanian Special Prosecution guarantees to the public that it is determined to fully investigate any element that constitutes evidence of criminal activity committed in the territory of the Republic of Albania and that is related to the object of investigation conducted so far by the Catanzaro Anti-Mafia Prosecution.
