The Nation’s Road concessionary company say that the annual turnover of the company for the first year is 10 million EUR (not the profit).
The company says they invested 45 million EUR during this time for the maintenance of the Thirra tunnel.
The ratio between the annual turnover and the investment indicates that the company is at loss.
The works on the terrain will start with the first kilometers of the road.
On the 10th kilometer of the Nation Road, heading form Milot to Morina, the concessionary company is working to reinforce the Skuraj Bridge over the Mat River.
They have done similar work on other bridges, while they have also installed road signs throughout the entire road, illumination in tunnel entrances, road exits and stopping pockets.
Nicola Spadavecchia, a well-known highway manager in Italy, is the concession administrator. He explains the work of the operating room, which is practically the neural center fo the highway.
“We have made more than 40 million Euros of investments. Besides the worksites spread through the entire highway, we are also managing the activity of the entire 114 kilometers. We can monitor the entire road from here, and there will be even smart cameras, as we used to have before. When a vehicle stops, the camera immediately enlarges the image and the operator understands immediately what is going on. Another important thing is placing all illumination signals based on the EU norms, and have a sophisticated smoke and flame detection system which makes tunnel vents adjustable depending on the problem”, Spadavecchia declared.
The most important thing is reducing accidents. According to Spadavecchia, road accidents during 2018 have had a sharp decline, especially the ones ending in death.
