The National Security meeting requested by Parliament Speaker Ilir Meta,
for the escape of Klement Balili, suspected drug organization leader,
was held today without Prime Minister Edi Rama.

The President and the Prime Minister had another conflict yesterday, when the National Security Council was first scheduled.

Before going to Kosovo on an official trip, Engjell Agaci, General Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office, asked the Albanian President to have Rama replaced by Deputy Prime Minister Niko Peleshi, but the Presidency refused.

President Nishani refused the Deputy Prime Minister, saying that Rama’s presence is significant. He also said that before sending his vice, the Prime Minister is bound by law to make a request to the President, in which he explains why he cannot attend the meeting.

If the president accepts the request, only then the Prime Minister can authorize someone else. In this specific case, the Prime Minister has only did not present any request.
