The Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, declared that the national
issue is the basis of the Democratic Party program. He elaborated the
declarations made during the 100th anniversary celebrations, which
produced harsh reactions from Athens after Berisha mentioned Preveza.

“In these 22 years, the young men and women in my country have transmitted an inexhaustible energy to define any special victory of Albania”, Berisha declared.

Berisha released these declarations during a ceremony in which 400 young people joined the Democratic Party at the Municipal Unit 5 in Tirana. “The Party of the youth that landed on Tirana’s squares founded the party of national interest. Their program had the Albanian cause as the leading star”, Berisha declared.

The Democratic Party leader unfolded a retrospective for the role of the Albanian youth for bringing down the communist regime. Berisha declared that today, the European dream of the Albanians is 100 times bigger than 22 years ago.

Berisha considered the political events of 1997 as the violent removal of the Democrats from power, but reiterated that the vote of the young people returned them to power after eight years. According to him, the vote of the young people will be decisive in the elections of 2013.

Rama reacts

The Socialist Party leader reacted to the declarations of Prime Minister Berisha in the meeting that he had with the Democratic Party youth.

“Poor young people who were summoned for their dreams (they’re copying) and heard only the fear that the power has from the opposition (which is the only dream of this government”, Rama declared on Twitter, adding that “taking young members in the ruling party and talking only against the opposition is the significant example that shows in what catastrophe the government is in”.
