Fatos Nano considered as a mistake the expulsion of the Socialist MP,
Kastriot Islami, from the Socialist Parliamentary Group. He declared
that he believes that the Socialist Party would correct this mistake.
“I believe that the Socialist Party will have the strength to correct this fatal mistake”, Nano declared.
The former Prime Minister, Fatos Nano, declared that he is not competing against the past, but the ideas and the representatives that are interested to have a faster European Integration in Albania.
Islami voted out of SP
Four votes against and two abstentions broke the unanimity of the Socialist Party for expelling Kastriot Islami from the Parliamentary Group. MP Tom Doshi was more direct, saying for “Shqip” newspaper that Islami’s regulation infringement could be compared with Blushi’s. While the Socialist leader, Edi Rama, declared that this was not a vote against Kastriot Islami, but against the implementation of the Regulation.
The meeting
The SP Parliamentary Group meeting started with Islami’s proposition to discuss his case with the media presence, so that the debate could be seen in an institutional context.
The Socialist Party answered to this request with a meeting of the leadership, which then rejected it and continued the discussions behind closed doors.
After this decision, Islami refused to be part of the discussion and as result he was judged in absence by his own party.
After the meeting approved his expulsion, Islami compared it with a meeting of the Communist Party in 1981, after which, Mehmet Shehu, a former leader known for his strong authority as a man of state, was obliged to criticize himself in front of the Party comrades.
“I didn’t have the opportunity to make an auto critic”, Islami declared.
