The warehouse of the “Rrapo” company in Mbrostar village, Fier, was the
destination of the containers coming from Ecuador with a load of
bananas, where the Montenegrin authorities found 250 cocaine hidden
inside the boxes.
The “Rrapo” company has been licensed for importing and exporting fruits and vegetables, and started its activity on January 2014.|
After the drug was seized in Tivar, Montenegro, the owner of this company, Dritan Rrapaj, was questioned by the Albanian police. He said he had ordered only bananas and was not aware of the activity conducted by the transportation company.
Police sources say that the drug destination was France or Italy, and the traffickers had planned to leave the goods in Albania and return the empty containers to its destination, trying to lose all the tracks.
The three containers arrived in Montenegro on June 3rd, and two of them were allowed to enter Albania. The authorities were suspicious about one of them, and after a detailed search they found the drug.
The police doubts that the traffickers had Albania as their destination, a country that doesn’t have a market for 250 kilograms of cocaine.
They suspect that the containers were filled with cocaine before the crates with bananas were loaded.
The company owners told the police that he had ordered three containers with bananas, and this was his seventh order.
After the drug was seized in Tivar, the Prosecution of Serious Criems was involved in the investigation, but there was no information. The informational about the itinerary of the ship has not been made public.
Tahiri: Albania wasn’t the destination for the cocaine
The Interior Minister, Saimir Tahiri, declared that the drug’s destination was not Albania. He said that they are looking into the case, but there is data that the drug was not about to enter Albania.
The Minister was asked about the situation in Lazarat, and he declared that they are working to eliminate the narcotic plants.
“The first results of the fight against drug are already there, but things cannot change overnight”, he declared.
