Violinist Ibrahim Madhi, one of the best Albanian musicians in Albania, died at 68 years of age, after a very serious disease.
He has a 50-year-long career in concerts and teaching at the University of Arts.
“A virtuoso that left us by leaving behind the taste of music”, wrote the Albanian PM Edi Rama on Twitter.
” A quiet man, original artist, a very correct and hard-working person”, declared the Rector of the Art University, Petrit Malaj, who handed over the Gratitude Reward to Ibrahimi three years ago.
Ibrahim Madhi was born in Tirana in November 1945. He studied at the Naples Conservatory and the Albanian Academy of Arts.
He was only 17 when he first appeared on stage. Then he worked as first violin in the orchestras of the Albanian Public Television, the State Ensemble and the National Theater of Opera and Ballet.
He has worked as a university professor at the Academy of Arts, and dean of the Music Faculty at the Academy.
His repertoire includes Albanian and foreign composers, plays that he has performed in Albania, Kosovo, Italy, France, Switzerland, Austria, Germany and China.
Homage will be paid in his honor at the University of Arts, Wednesday at noon.
