The Albanian Spiritual and Cultural Heritage Institution in Macedonia proposed on Wednesday to establish a museum dedicated to Mother Theresa in the center of Skopje, in the same place where once laid her birth house. The initiative was made public on the Albanian humanist 105th birthday and is expected to be delivered soon at the Macedonian government.

“Even though authorities have decided for a statue of Mother Theresa in “Makedonija Square”, our institution proposes that in the name of humanism and cutting costs, as her spirit would have wanted, a museum in her honor to be built instead. It would be enough to keep the memory of Mother Theresa in the city and for sure it would be one of the most emblematic houses of Skopje”, said Sefer Tahiri.

In the 105th anniversary of her birthday, numerous people paid respects at the plaque that stands in the birthplace of the Albanian Nobel Prize winner, where Albanian historians and various intellectuals raised once again the issue of attempts to dismiss her pure Albanian heritage, and gave testimonies of her origins.

Kosovo ambassador to Skopje Ylber Hyka and Albanian vice ambassador Albert Lala, also attended the ceremony.
