The Commission of Laws should meet and discuss the resolution that they
should present to Parliament about the General Prosecutor’s report
regarding criminality during 2011, but the session turned into harsh
debates.
The debate started after the Socialists asked explanations why the Parliament had not taken in consideration the prosecution’s work for January 21st, but after explaining that this resolution was related only with the work of the General Prosecutor regarding criminality, the Democratic MP, Fatos Hoxha, used a harsh language while debating with Majko.
“We cannot pretend like nothing has happened in 2011 in our reports in government, prosecution and parliament. Will we hide our head in the sand by passing a resolution, or will we discuss a good functional prosecution? It is unprecedented that a government leader says that the prosecution is a collaborator of a coup”, Majko declared.
The debates continued even further about the ethics that should be used in the commission, and the parties accused each other for preferences and political attacks against the general prosecutor.
The Chairman of the Commission, Ilir Rusmali, was very harsh when he tried to calm the debate down.
“Do we care that the criminals are stronger than the state, because they are hidden by the prosecutors? The Prosecution has failed in its activity against criminality, for the fact that the international drug traffickers get away with it, because of the Prosecution”, Rusmali declared.
The Socialists declared that these considerations should be included in the resolution, but it did not change. Some Socialist MPs left the room, while the remaining MPs of the majority passed the resolution and asked the Prosecution to intensify its war against crime and corruption, especially among the judges and state administration employees.
