MPs against energy price increase

The Commission of Producing Activities included a resolution in the
Energy Regulation Entity (ERE), which asks this institution to block any
decision for increasing the energy price during this year.

The proposition came from the Democratic Party through the former Minister of Energy, Genc Ruli.

“We have the highest level of losses, at 46-47%, and before the government increases prices, must guarantee consumers that losses will at least drop at 30%”, Ruli declared.

The Socialist Movement for Integration was also against increasing prices with this high level of losses.

“Since the ERE leader declared that there will be no price increase, then it will cost us nothing to have it in a written form so that there will be no price increase for this year. Then we will see. If losses will be decreased and revenues will be higher, let’s see it from another view”, declared Monika Kryemadhi, Socialist Movement for Integration Parliament Member.

The proposition to not allow price increases this year was included by the Chairman of the Commission, Eduard Shalsi, in the resolution for the ERE.

“Let’s ask ERE to not take any decision for increasing prices without reducing the losses and without improving encashment”, Shalsi declared.

This is the first time that the Parliament is officially against a price increase by asking the ERE to review the fees and take price increases in consideration only after reducing robberies and increasing encashment.
