MP proposes Albanian language edition on RAI, Italian Public Television

15/04/2017 00:00

Italian MP Dalila Nesci, from the “Five Star Movement”, led by Peppe
Grillo, member of the Supervisory Committee for the Italian Public
Television (RAI), proposed to include shows in Albanian language, as a
right of 500.000 Albanian immigrants who live in Italy, and the Arberesh
people who still preserve their culture and identity for centuries.

The Albanian language has been present in radio shows ran by the public radio stations, since after the Second World War and to 2011.

The foreign sector with 27 languages then closed, including the Albanian edition. It is difficult to predict if the proposition of the Calabrese MP will have any result, or if it will remain just in paper, especially now that the funds for public media are being cut.
