More revenues, fewer spending

The government declared that the budget revenues for the first four
months increased with 9.4 billion ALL, or 8.8% compared to one year ago.

The data made public by the Ministry of Finances show that the growth is mainly due to the VAT.

Through this tax, the government has collected 7.4 billion ALL more for the first four months, although part of this result comes from the strong shrinking of reimbursement.

According to the data, the government has returned to businesses 2.2 billion ALL less than the last year. Besides VAT, the other tax that has generated money in the budget is the tax on profit.

According to the Ministry of Finances, the revenues from the tax on profit were 1.5 billion ALL higher, or 23% more than the last year. From January 1st, the tax on profit got a newer burden of 50%.

For the first two months, these are the two elements that seem to carry the main burden for the growth of the government’s revenues. The paradox is that the excise, another tax that the government increased in the beginning of the year, keeps bringing fewer revenues in the budget.

According to the data, the income from the excise were 7.7% lower for the first four months than compared to one year ago. Excise is the tax that is established on goods such as cigarettes, alcohol and fuels, which have a high risk for smuggling.

From the June of two years ago, this tax is collected by customs. On the other side of the budget, the spending, the government has kept holding a tight policy.

According to the data, the total spending was 8 billion ALL fewer than one year ago, and the mostly affected indicator was that of public investments, which fell with 10 billion, compared to one year ago.
