One day before the Albanian Parliament reviewed the Socialist Party
request for repealing the moratorium of sailing vessels, the Socialist
MP, Artan Gaci, sent a letter to all majority MPs in coastal districts
and those near the laes of Shkoder, Fierze and Pogradec.
He asks them to vote for repealing the moratorium, a law that according to him has blocked the development of the Albanian economy and tourism.
“The moratorium has placed Albania in a shameful position, compared to the neighbors that see tourism as a resource of well being for their citizens”, Gaci’s letter says.
“Prolonging the moratorium would only deepen the absurdity of a law that doesn’t serve to any goal, besides penalizing the tourist industry”, it underlines.
One day ago, the Socialist Parliamentary Group submitted at the Parliament the document through which they required the abolishment of the moratorium that entered in act since 3 April 2006.
In the respective relation that follows the legal initiative, the Socialist MPs declared that after six years with the moratorium, there has been no reduction of the drug traffic, especially in the first period. But the moratorium had destructive effects for the maritime tourism”.
Regardless the moratorium, recently there have been many cases of traffic with inflatable power boats from Albania to the neighbor countries.
