The Albanian President, Bujar Nishani, held a meeting with Jonathan
Moore, Director of South-Central European Affairs at the United States
Department of State.
According to the President’s press office, Moore and President Nishani agreed for the importance of fight against corruption, justice and territorial reforms.
Moore underlined that the United States considers Albania a strong ally and asked the Albanian parties to cooperate in Parliament and other institutions to reach the main goal, the European Union integration. Focusing on the fifth anniversary of the NATO accession, Nishani also spoke about the developments in Crimea by saying that its comparison with Kosovo is a weak alibi and Albania will support the United States and their allies in the stance against Russia.
Mr.Moore met with the opposition leader, Lulzim Basha, who expressed his concern about the political situation in our country.
The unilateral decisions of the government, the fewer spaces in Parliament and the attack against independent institutions were some of the points mentioned by Mr.Basha.
The Director of South-Central European Affairs at the United States Department of State met with the Albanian Minister of Defense, Mimi Kodheli.
On April 2nd he will meet with Prime Minister Edi Rama, after his visit in Brussels. On April 3rd Mr.Moore will meet with the Parliament Speaker, Mr. Ilir Meta.
