“Moody’s” and “Standard and Poor’s” evaluation about Albania

Two international agencies for financial evaluation, “Standard &
Poor’s”, “Moody’s”, kept their evaluation for Albania unchanged,
respectively B+ and B1, both with the perspective of a stable economy.

The reports were published on the official websites of these prestigious companies, with fiscal consolidation and reduced public debt being in the center of their analyze.

“Standard & Poor’s” evaluates that political tensions during the first six months didn’t impact the economic stability, while they see that the election results will  allow the government to continue structural reforms and gradual improval.

Another evaluation aspect is the judiciary reform, which is expected to improve the business climate in Albania. According to “Standard & Poor’s”, which underlines the government’s work to strengthen the rule of law, the economic growth is expected to be 3.8%, mostly based on major energetic projects.

While Moody’s foresees a 3.6% growth for 2017, it doesn’t mention political matters and their impact in the economy. Besides the fiscal consolidation and government reforms in this aspect, this agency sees low competition and the low level of the per capita GDP as problematic  Moody’s brings up the problem of risks that may come from climatic changes, such as the impact of the recent drought in energy and agriculture.
