Although only one of them is a consensual president, the former Albanian
Presidents, Alfred Moisiu and Rexhep Meidani thnk that the time demands
a President that stays above the parties.
In a debate organized by the Civil Forum, together with important ambassadors to our country, such as the US and OSCE, the former Presidents declared that Berisha’s declaration for a President from the Democratic Party fall against the constitutional spirit and the country needs a figure that guarantees unity.
Although they were present in this event, Ambassadors Arvizu and Wollfarth were more careful with their declarations. The US declaration appealed a stronger activity of the civil society, while the OSCE diplomat, Eugen Wollfarth, asked the remaining time to be used for finding a figure that has the right personality for this post.
The idea for holding consults about the new President was launched a few days ago by the Council of Elders at the Socialist Party.
