The Ministry of Justice published the draft law “additions and amends
for the “organization and functionality of the High Council of Justice”.
The draft was sent for the opinion of some main institutions in the judiciary, and with the presence of the OSCE, the EU delegation and the OPDAT mission.
According to the Ministry of Justice, this will provide a solution for a series of issues the HCJ is currently facing. The draft law foresees the transferring and promotion of two HCJ members, and how the conflict of interest will be solved.
Other issues that are expected to find a solution are related to the professional and ethical evaluation of the Chief Inspector and Inspectors of the High Council of Justice, and the discordance between the current law and the recent constitutional amends, and those of the Criminal Procedure Code over the immunity of judges.
