Ministry of Finance: Fiscal Amnesty, for the citizens

Ministry of Finance declared once again that the promised fiscal amnesty is for the citizens and not to favor government officials.

Alfred Rushaj, second man on charge of this institution, explained during a press conference what citizens will benefit from the amnesty.

“I guarantee that this amnesty will not favor officials who are obliged to declare their wealth. I guarantee that after Parliament’s approval, this project will pardon all tax bills implemented until December 2010. I want to notify the citizens that they can legalize and revalue their wealth by avoiding the 10% taxation” Rushaj declared.

Rushaj also announced that all Albanians who have imported cars and haven’t paid the custom fee will have 50% of the overdue fine pardoned, if they pay a part of the principal.

“Small businesses will have pardoned taxes, pardoned unpaid social security contributions and fines implemented for not installing fiscal instruments. Big business will have unpaid taxes and overdue fines pardoned”, Rushaj specified.

He made an appeal to the opposition leader, who called this amnesty “a way to launder dirty money”, to vote the government’s amnesty since it is for the citizens.

“I want to say to Mr. Rama that this amnesty is not for the smugglers, but for the citizens and for the business. If he really supports the business, we invite him to vote this law.” Rushaj added.
