Ministry of Economy declares winner for building Spitalla Free Economic area

The construction will be made by a joint venture of “Pelikani”, “Best Construction” and “Vellezerit Hysa” companies.

The project also foresees the building of a ferrochrome enriching plant of 39 million EUR, which will create 2500 jobs.

The Ministry says the agreement will be signed within 90 days.

There were two companies bidding for this place. The other one filed a complaint after the decision, but it didn’t change the result.

This is the fourth time that Albania tries to build a free economic area in Spitalla. The last time the bid failed due to lack of interest.
