The Minister of State for Local Government, Bledi Cuci, accompanied by
the Co-Chairman of the Special Parliamentary Commission, Bashkim Fino,
met in the town of Lezhe with more than 100 representatives from local
government units, political forces, private businesses, civil society
and citizens, on a consultation tour about the reforms of new local
government territorial divisions.
They said that political differences need to be overcome, and the opposition must cooperate for the reform.
“Wise Albanians gathered in this place to create the Lezha League. I don’t exaggerate when I say that we need such an unification today. We need to go beyond personal and partial interests and work together for a deep reform that will improve the work and efficiency of the local governments”, declared Bledi Cuci, Minister of State for Local Government.
“We insist for the opposition to be part of this, because we have the chance to change the Constitution, together with the opposition. The reform starts and becomes complete with all of us, it cannot stay half done”, Bashkim Fino declared.
These meetings will continue in all 12 districts. Minister Cuci will inform the participants on the necessity to realize this reform, and on the benefits that derive. They will also discuss technical criteria that will be used for the new division.
