Minister of Justice shows document about “Balili” case

The Ministry of Justice showed their correspondence with the Prosecution
General, the Prosecution of Serious Crimes and the Greek Ministry of
Justice regarding the documents about Balili.

According to the Ministry of Justice, the first letter was sent seven months ago, and it was a request of the Prosecution of Serious Crimes to assist Greek authorities for their case against Klement Balili.

On the same day, the Ministry of Justice has sent this case to the Greek counterparts, and the Tirana Interpol office has released an arrest order for Klement Balili. Then, on May 25th, another request was sent to the Greek Authorities for the request sent by the Prosecution of Serious Crimes and the Prosecution General, but they have not answered back until November 14th.

On November, aright after the Greek authority sent the material for executing the arrest order, and the Ministry has sent it to the Prosecution of Serious Crime on November 16th. The Prosecution of Serious Crimes sent a copy of the material to the Ministry of Justice, for making a full translation.

The translated material was sent to the Prosecution of Serious Crimes on December 6th, and the entire procedure has taken 7 months. The US ambassador said that they had asked the Albanian authorities to arrest Balili exactly seven months ago. The operation for his arrest has failed.
