Minister of Justice promises to intermediate for lawyers’ strike

The justice system has been paralyzed for the second day after lawyers
boycotted trials to protest against newer taxes.

The only trials that
were held were the necessary ones for prisoners.

The same situation was created in all grades of the judiciary, even at the Supreme Court where the trial against former MP Mark Frroku was postponed.

The Minister of Justice, Ylli Manjani, said in an interview for Top Channel that he will intermediate with the Minister of Finances.

“I don’t think boycott is the right way for communication. The Chamber of Advocacy will find a partner in me. I am ready to sit and discuss”, Manjani declared.

The Minister of Justice warned lawyers to not be absent, since they are paid by the state. However, chances are that even Manjani is between two fires in this case, since he also is a lawyer.
