The Minister of Interior, Saimir Tahiri, received his Austrian counterpart, Wolfang Sobotka, in an official visit to Albania.
Security of Albanian borders was one of the topics discussed by both Ministers.
Answering to Austrian media, Minister Tahiri said that although there is no information so far showing that Albania might face a migration flux, they have already taken necessary measures to respond accordingly and avoid terrorists .
“We have an emergency plan and an infrastructure that can respond to immediate needs in case of an emergency. As regards fight against terrorism, we have taken measures avoid dangerous elements from infiltrating through possible immigration fluxes”, Minister Tahiri said.
His Austrian counterpart valued the cooperation with the State Police and expressed the support of Austria to Albania’s European integration path.
“The EU wants Albania to be part of them, and Austria, in this case, is a country that offers strong support. Albania is an important partner for us. We have had an excellent cooperation of our police forces in the past years. Albania has undertaken huge initiatives in the fight against organized crime, arms and drug traffic”, said Austria’s Minister of Interior, Wolfang Sobotka.
