The Minister of Interior, Saimir Tahiri, received the German
counterpart, Thomas De mAiziere. Tahiri said that they discussed about
organized crime, emigration and asylum seekers.

“The German Police will bring experts to increase the results in the fight against crime and corruption”, according to Tahiri, who added that the cooperation so far has given good results.

“We spoke about immigrants, for which is needed more cooperation between the region and the EU. This is the time to resolve an European problem in a European level”, Tahiri said.

As for the asylum seekers, the Minister of Interior underlined that the measures taken by the Albanian and German authorities have given effect.

“The asylum seeking case requires immediate solution and I informed my counterpart with the emasures taken by the Albanian government, which have given good results together with those given by the German side”, Tahiri said.

According to him, most of the Albanians requesting asylum to Germany are those who live in Greece. The Minister said the Albanian government is ready to complete programs for the legal employment of Albanians in Germany.

Minister De Maiziere said that Germany will send experts for the fight against organized crime and corruption.

“We will give our support in this direction. Crime and corruption are tumors of the society. It is our duty to fight it”, said De Maiziere.

He greeted the results reached so far from the cooperation between the Albanian and German police in the fight against the drug traffic. As for immigration, he said that it is not related only to Albania, that’s why it should be managed in an European level.

“We value the contribution of Albania and will work for it to not return into an axis of immigrants. Some measures are not enough for the immigration waves. We need more measures, such as securing borders and surveilling hot spots”, De Maiziere declared.
