Minister of Environment will sue local mayors who allowed deforestation

The Minister of Environment, Lefter Koka, admitted some municipalities
are still allowing companies to cut trees and break the moratorium.
Koka said the Ministry will file criminal lawsuits against these municipalities.
The Minister also criticized the local government of not taking forest administration seriously.
“They have foreseen very small budgets for forest administration”, Koka said.
A 10-year moratorium against deforestation has given local governments the competence to administer cutting of trees only to cover their citizens heating needs, and all the profits should go to rehabilitation
