The Minister of Energy, Damian Gjiknuri, answered to concerns raised by
private investors of hydropower plants regarding the government decision
for the energy purchase price.
“Without a lower fee than what we have today, we will establish a floor price as protection”, said Damian Gjiknuri, Minister of Energy and Industry.
Private hydropower plants were against signing new contracts that transfer energy purchase from the Energy Corporation to the Energy Distribution, claiming there will be no fair return of their investments.
However, Minister Gjiknuri guarantees that the formula that will be used rejects this claim. 100 hydropower plants have guarantee for purchasing energy from the state for the next 15 years. All guarantees were given before 2013.
