The Minister of Education, Lindita Nikolla, said that Albanian Prime
Minister Edi Rama has engaged in dialogue with the Science Academy for a
long time now, and he underlined the indispensability of having a deep
reform, coming from the academics.
The minister explains that PM Rama asked the Ministry of Education and Sports to engage in this dialogue, but, according to Nikolla, the Science Academy never contributed.
However, the Minister say they continued to work ad cooperate for writing a National Development Strategy for Scientific Research, Technology and Innovation for the 2017-2-22 period, prepare the Political Document for Institutional Reformation of Scientific Reforms, preparing a new Draft Law for Science, Technology and Innovation.
Nikolla adds that the products of these projects speak for themselves, and that the new government program will show why she supports Prime Minister Edi Rama in what he said about the Academy of Sciences.
“Yesterday’s elections at the academy were the last straw, because they showed a lack of reflection on what has been the gangrene of that institution. Keeping funding the Science Academy in these conditions would be participating in what they are doing. The Science Academy has lost its reason of existence”, the Minister added.
