The Minister of Economic Development, Arben Ahmetaj, declared that the
Albanian economy is in a stable path of aggressive reforms that will
help competition.

This declaration came after the World Bank report on the business climate of Albania. The World Bank notes that making business in Albania is more difficult for 2016. Albania has dropped 35 spots in the general ranking among 189 countries.

“The World Bank published the Doing Business report in which Albania is listed 97th. This is due to 1) giving construction permits, property certification and tax payment. This ranking was expected due to the developments. With the territorial reform we decided to suspend the construction permits for some time. This was a measure to bring discipline with constructions and for the new urban plan”, Ahmetaj explained.

“We have planned a good legal package that will start bringing results in the next year”, Ahmetaj declared.
