The Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati, who is attending the EU-Western Balkan meeting in London, said that the Rama-Tsipras meeting is a golden opportunity to determine the direction this process should take.
“We have made important steps ahead with the maritime border agreement, which will be based on the international justice principles, and which will be righteous and implementable by both Albania and Greece. It is not an easy process. There is political resistance from both sides, Albania and Greece, but we believe that there will be concrete products in a near future”, Bushati said.
The Minister added that the resistance is more related to political stances or to groups who are against the joint European perspective between Albania and Greece.
Bushati spoke about the migration issue as well, underlining that Albania’s stance has been in favor of applying the solidarity and proportionality principles, which means that each EU member and EU neighbouring country should contribute for overcoming this crisis.
