Minister and Mayor report for child abuse case in Shkoder orphanage

The Minister of Social Welfare, Blendi Klosi, reported this Tuesday at
the Albanian Parliament for the case of abused minors at orphanages.
Klosi said that orphans need to be raised in foster families that need to receive payments from the government.
“We will hold an urgent meeting with Mayors of municipalities where there are social centers. The local power must find families prepared to raise them”, Klosi said.
The Minister’s report came after the scandal at the Shkoder orphanage, where minor girls were sexually abused.
The Mayor of Shkoder, Voltana Ademi, declared that this took place because there is a system that is unable to react.
The Shkoder Mayor added that the residential centers are the worst model to offer service to problematic children.
