The Socialist Party expressed its concern for the situation that was created in the Bulqize mine, where a group of miners are continuing their 18th day of strike.

The Socialist MP, Arben Ahmetaj, blamed the government which fpr showing a complete indifference that is endangering human lives.

“SP supports the legitimate requests of the mineworkers and asks the
Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Labour to urgently intervene for
solving the situation. The Ministry of Economy has all legal and
institutional instruments for forcing the concessionary company to
fulfill the agreement obligation, which also provides the investments
that have been absent in that mine for many years”, Ahmetaj declared.

The Socialist deputy criticized the concessionary company which should have implemented the agreement obligations.

“The company has a direct responsibility for implementing the
concessionary conditions. People in that mine are still working with
wheelbarrows, same as in 1945. This situation is unacceptable. The
barbarian exploitation of the mine and the mineworkers, the lack of
investments, the refusal and indifference of the government towards the
miners is a direct expression of the attention that this government
gives to its citizens”, Ahmetaj declared.

Despite the support from the opposition, the solution seems very far, while the situation is deteriorating.
